CBG oil is a legal hemp product that has been getting more popular in recent years. CBG (cannabigerol) exhibits many health benefits, however, in hemp extract it can be found only in very small amounts. It is valued primarily for its calming and stress-reducing effects. Besides that, just like CBD – it has anti-inflammatory properties and effectively stimulates the immune system.

CBG cannabis oil | Cannabis sativa

Traditional use: The first information about cannabis use can be found in the books written about 3 000 years ago! According to the legends, the mythological emperor of China – Shennong – highly valued cannabis and liked to prepare infusions with this herb in order to treat multiple ailments, e.g. memory issues, malaria and rheumatism. Throughout the years Cannabis sativa plants have become an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and still being used by herbal medicine experts up to this day. However, there are more interesting stories from the past! Historians claim that king Henry the 8th encouraged farmers under his rule to cultivate cannabis, and so did the settlers from Virginia in the early stage of the United States development. Another noble story refers to the queen Victoria known for her unusually long ruling. As the rumor has it, she also appreciated the effects of cannabis using it particularly as a painkiller. In the XIX century scientists started to apply scientific methods in order to study this herb and its properties.

There are about 100 active substances contained in the Cannabis sativa herb, but people usually focus on those that have the most interesting and universal properties. Recently, cannabidiol (CBD) has definitely become one of the most popular active compounds available on the market. However, there is another compound successively getting more and more attention. Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of the first active substances that are produced in a growing cannabis plant, but it exists only in small amounts. Because of that, only recently scientists have begun intensive research on the effects of CBG. The results are promising, and we are still getting new information about the wide range of properties that CBG provides.

CBG oil has a beneficial influence on the nervous system functioning. It has a calming effect and helps to relax while improving the quality of sleep. Some consider it a natural antidepressant that reduces anxiety and muscle tension. Moreover, CBG prevents inflammation which makes it an effective support in home treatment of colds and other infections. However, many people claim that it is particularly efficient in reducing symptoms of joint and heart issues. Currently, there is ongoing research on CBG use in cancer and diabetes treatment. There are also some promising results about the effects of CBG in patients with glaucoma because it has been proven that this compound lowers intraocular pressure. Antiseptic properties of the oil are strong enough that some scientists suggest CBG can be used as one of the ingredients in antibiotics. Keep in mind that CBG is a safe substance and completely legal. It does not exhibit psychostimulatory effects like THC contained in cannabis. CBG oil can be used as a natural remedy for infections, and an antidepressant that supports proper functioning of the nervous system.

Occurrence: Cannabis sativa is a plant species belonging to the family of Cannabis. It has large, branched stems that grow up to 2 meters in height. The leaves of this herb have a distinctive shape of the palm with a few lanceolate lobes and serrated edges. Every lobe is 10 cm long and 2 cm wide. The green parts of the plant release a strong smell that is a composition of about 100 chemical compounds.

Cannabis sativa is grown primarily in France and China. Those two countries produce 80% of cannabis resources. This plant is also popular in other countries of Europe, Australia, the Middle East and mountain regions of Caucasus and Altai.

Biochemistry: Cannabigerol is an organic chemical compound that belongs to the group of cannabinoids. It is considered a “stem cell” of cannabis because it is actually one of the first active substances that are produced in the herb. After chemical transformations the acidic form of CBG converts into CBD, CBC and THC. The amount of CBG in a cannabis extract is relatively small and does not exceed 1%. The oil available in our shop contains 5% – 20% of pure CBG (depending on the chosen option) which makes it effective and completely safe.

The oil contains many other compounds with the highest amount of terpenes and sesquiterpenes. There are also: myrcene, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, limonene, beta-phellandrene, ocimene, terpinolene, alpha-bergamotene, trans-caryophyllene, alpha-humulene and beta-farnesene.

CBG oil available in our shop comes from organic crops and is completely legal. It does not contain psychoactive substances. It does not stimulate or sedate like THC and can be safely used for therapeutic purposes.

Fun fact: CBG is the most effective when it is mixed with other active substances and essential oil of cannabis. The existence of terpenes and substances like CBD or THC, even in small amounts, supports health benefits of CBG. This synergic activity of cannabinoids is known as an entourage effect. For the first time it has been described in 1998.

CBG cannabis oil | Cannabis sativa benefits

Helps to regulate immunity: Studies show that cannabigerol can influence the immune system. It exhibits strong anti-inflammatory properties as it reduces the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Besides that, CBG inhibits macrophage activation and migration of neutrophils to the site of inflammation. In this way, it prevents inflammation from spreading excessively. It has also been proven to slow down the proliferation of certain cancer cells and stimulate the process of their death. In addition, it inhibits the growth of some bacteria species, including antibiotic-resistant strains. This makes it a valuable support for the immune system.

Protects the nervous system: The anti-inflammatory effect of CBG makes this compound a decent support for brain condition. It has been confirmed by studies with animal models of neurodegenerative diseases – including multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Huntington’s disease. Cannabigerol reduces inflammation within the central nervous system. It mitigates the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines from microglia cells and simultaneously, increases the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines. It also reduces the expression of genes involved in the pathophysiology of certain degenerative disorders. Besides that, it has been shown that CBG is able to stimulate neurogenesis within the hippocampus. It may also affect synaptic plasticity by modulating the expression of genes related to cytoskeletal remodeling and guiding axons.

Supports well-being: People using preparations based on CBG repeatedly report soothing effects including a decrease in nervous tension and improvement of mood as well as an anti-anxiety effect. Scientists are still trying to identify the exact mechanisms responsible for that. It has been established that cannabigerol interacts with the receptors of the endocannabinoid system, which is related to mood and mental comfort. Studies also indicate that CBG can influence the expression of genes involved in the release of glutamate, GABA and dopamine, i.e. neurotransmitters that are particularly important in terms of well–being and emotions. There are claims that with regular use, it may increase the concentration of dopamine receptors, which are important for the sense of motivation and satisfaction with one’s performance.

Improves overall health: Scientific findings prove that cannabigerol is a powerful antioxidant. It reduces levels of reactive oxygen species even more effectively than ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It has a beneficial influence on the cardiovascular system. It has been proven to support the regulation of blood pressure and heart function. Moreover, it inhibits platelet aggregation, thus improving blood flow in the vessels. There are also studies suggesting CBG can help to normalize pressure in the eyeballs since it increases outflow of aqueous fluid that fills the anterior chamber of the eye, maintaining pressure and providing nutrients. When this liquid is accumulated in excessive amounts, it can lead to the development of glaucoma. CBG’s anti-inflammatory properties have been proven to bring benefits in the tests with an animal model of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This compound led to a decrease in the production of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, as well as reduced inflammation and improved intestinal function. The researchers consider these results promising and suggest that human clinical trials should be conducted in this field. In addition, CBG can support a good condition and appearance of the skin. This is because it reduces the vitality and proliferation of sebaceous cells, but also shows anti-acne effects. All these properties make CBG a truly versatile choice for the body.
