COMFORTIL™ MAX formula properties

COMFORTIL™ MAX has been created in order to support the proper functioning of the nervous system under chronic stress. This unique composition of 7 ingredients that work in synergy helps to remain calm despite the chaos of the modern world. It is able to stimulate the activity of GABA and reduce secretion of cortisol – a physical biomarker of long-term stress. Research indicates that the ingredients of our formula can effectively induce anxiolytic effects but also have antidepressant properties since they increase the production of serotonin and endorphins that are crucial for a good mood. COMFORTIL™ has a comprehensive, positive influence on the nervous system, protecting it from toxic factors and improving its functioning. In addition to that, this composition may improve cognitive functions, such as memory and attention, by increasing acetylcholine and dopamine levels in the brain.

Ingredients of COMFORTIL™ MAX (proprietary formula):

Brahmi | Bacopa monnieri
Brahmi is a major plant used in Ayurveda. Its name refers to a high place in the hierarchy of traditional Indian medicine herbs that Brahmi achieved. This plant effectively regulates neurotransmitter activity, particularly acetylcholine, serotonin and GABA. It is estimated that Brahmi can make acetylcholine level even two times higher! Because of that it supports cognitive functions of the brain, reduces anxiety and helps to relax. In addition, Brahmi has neuroprotective properties, which means that it protects the nervous system from harmful factors. It has been proven that this herb stimulates natural antioxidants and slows down the process of brain aging.
Magnolia officinalis
Magnolia officinalis is an herb that has been used in natural medicine of the Far East for centuries. The main herbal resources are the bark and the buds. Magnolia is known primarily for its antidepressant and anxiolytic properties. It supports the activity of GABA bringing a sustainable increase of stress resilience. It also affects the activity of serotonin - the so-called “happiness hormone”. It provides a better mood and helps to fall asleep. What is more, magnolia can regulate the level of acetylcholine which is responsible for cognitive functions, including learning capacity and focus.
L-Theanine | PharmaTheanine™
L-theanine is a natural amino acid considered to be a part of nootropic and compounds that support and protect the nervous system. It can be found in the leaves of common tea (Camellia sinensis) - making up to 3% of dried leaf mass. One of the main properties of L-theanine is the ability to improve stress resilience. This compound inhibits cortisol while stimulating the activity of GABA - a key neurotransmitter that helps to mitigate stress symptoms. Moreover, L-theanine stimulates alpha brain waves that are related to the state known as a “relaxed attention”, typical for activities requiring a high focus, e.g. meditation. Thanks to that, L-theanine makes it easier to concentrate on the task at hand. It also has a beneficial effect on memory because it stimulates the process of neurogenesis during which new neural cells are produced. In dietary supplements L-theanine is often mixed with caffeine because in this composition stimulatory effects of caffeine are more subtle yet more durable with much less side effects such as agitation or anxiety.
Lemon balm | Melissa officinalis
Lemon balm is a plant widely known all over the world for its ability to reduce anxiety. The natural compounds found in this herb are ursolic acid and rosmarinic acid. Those substances catalyze the reaction of conversion of L-glutamate to GABA. The other active compounds can modulate the activity of GABA receptors. That is why lemon balm extract helps to reduce tension and other symptoms of stress. Melissa officinalis also helps to fall asleep faster if taken in the evening while providing better regeneration during the sleep - both mental and physical.
Picamilon | GABA-Nicotinol™
Picamilon is a synthetic compound with nootropic and relaxing properties. It quickly crosses the blood-brain barrier. In the brain, it breaks down to niacin and GABA. Niacin (vitamin B3) is necessary for proper metabolism of carbohydrates, functioning of the immune system as well as healthy skin, eyes and the whole nervous system. On the other hand, GABA is a neurotransmitter responsible for mental comfort, stability of attention and stress resilience.
Inositol | Myo-Inositol
Inositol is a compound that naturally occurs in the human body. It builds cellular structures. It also regulates signal transmission between neurons and affects the activity of neurotransmitters in the brain - particularly serotonin - as an activator of calcium channels. What is more, inositol influences GABA activity by interfering with its receptors. Because of that, this substance provides better mood, helps to deal with stress and is effective in the fight against addictions. It also has a key role in the process of neurogenesis as well as expression of genes that are associated with the proper functioning of the nervous system. And those are the things that keep the brain in good condition.
Vitamin B6 | Pyridoxine
  • 8.4 mg | 600% RDA (2 caps.)
Vitamin B6 is a key compound that supports proper functioning of the central nervous system, particularly in terms of maintaining a positive attitude. It is a cofactor in the production of neurotransmitters, including GABA, dopamine and serotonin. Besides that, vitamin B6 is important for metabolic processes that occur in neurons and protects those cells from premature degeneration. It can be found in food products, such as soy, yeast, chickpeas, starchy vegetables, bananas, fish and meat.

COMFORTIL™ MAX formula benefits

Improves stress resilience: Normal reaction to a stressful stimulus includes the activation of an interactive system called hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. It gives signals for the central nervous system to release a mix of hormones and changes the whole body to a different mode so it can deal with difficulties. The longer the stressful event lasts, the longer this “emergency mode” is active. It is usually related to the increase of cortisol – a hormone that is important in terms of a proper reaction to stress but can also cause some unpleasant or even harmful effects, especially when its level is elevated for a longer time. The HPA axis can be regulated by many neurotransmitters but one of them is especially important as it can inhibit this system. It is gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) that, in general, helps to calm down in difficult situations. All ingredients that can be found in our formula support the activity of GABA in every aspect of neuronal activity. Brahmi and Lemon balm increase the level of a GAD enzyme that acts as a catalyst in the production of this neurotransmitter. Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in the synthesis of GAD. L-theanine also stimulates the activity of GABA (even by up to 20%), however, the exact mechanism of this effect is still unclear. Magnolia increases the density of GABA receptors. Additionally, the active substances contained in this herb act as positive allosteric modulators of benzodiazepine receptors. This type of receptor is actually a part of GABA-A receptors. Their activation (induced by magnolia) stimulates GABA activity. Thanks to that, the molecules of this neurotransmitter can affect their target neurons. Inositol is another compound that improves sensitivity of GABA receptors, just like vitamin B3 that is a product of picamilon breakdown. Keep in mind that picamilon is made of combined B3 and GABA molecules, so the second part of this substance can directly affect GABA receptors. Lemon balm inhibits the enzyme that breaks down GABA so this neurotransmitter can remain in the synapses and affect the cells for a longer time. All in all, the herbs that are included in our recipe make GABA production more efficient, induce stronger effects of this neurotransmitter and slow down the breakdown of its molecule. Thanks to that, the brain – but in a big picture the whole body – can be more stress resilient and stay calm.

Improves mental well-being: GABA is one of the key compounds involved in stress resilience. But there are also other neurotransmitters necessary for psychological comfort. Serotonin is commonly known as a “happiness hormone” for a specific reason – it induces a sense of joy and supports a good mood. Dopamine, on the other hand, is released during the activation of the reward system and is related to pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. The ingredients found in our natural formula can influence those parts of neuronal activity. Vitamin B6 (and vitamin B3 released during breakdown of picamilon) acts as a cofactor that participates in the production of serotonin and dopamine. Brahmi increases the expression of genes that code tryptophan hydroxylase – an enzyme that takes part in serotonin production. Inositol improves sensitivity of this neurotransmitter’s receptors and reduces its reuptake allowing the molecules to remain in the synapses for a longer time. Further, the active compounds of magnolia bind to the receptors of serotonin and dopamine. Scientists suggest that this is the mechanism through which they can regulate the activity of those neurotransmitters. Brahmi also has a regulatory function. It has been proven that it helps to maintain the amount of serotonin and dopamine at a proper level, preventing sudden changes caused by stress. L-theanine improves the activity of GABA but it is not the sole property of this compound. It can also promote brain waves (cycles of bioelectrical brain activity) of the alpha frequency. Their presence usually indicates that the brain is relaxed but stays focused and aware. All these effects make our formula a solid and long-lasting support for mental comfort.

Supports the brain: Stress usually has a negative impact on one’s mood but there might be even more issues. Under stress some people experience attention problems and less clarity of mind. Generally, the spheres of the nervous system that are responsible for cognitive functions might be disrupted. All the ingredients contained in our formula will provide support in that regard as they are able to improve stress resilience by stimulating the activity of GABA. But their influence on cognitive activity is much broader. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B3 (that is provided by picamilon) are cofactors in the production of dopamine. Keep in mind that dopamine affects many spheres of neuronal activity, including cognitive functions. This neurotransmitter is particularly involved in multitasking – the ability to smoothly change focus between different objects. Acetylcholine is also very important for proficient intellectual performance as this substance acts as a neurotransmitter that determines the efficiency of data processing within the brain and facilitates consolidation of memory. Brahmi stimulates the activity of choline acetyltransferase – an enzyme that is a catalyst in the production of acetylcholine. Magnolia stimulates the release of this neurotransmitter to the synapse and facilitates binding its molecules to the receptors. Brahmi, Magnolia and Lemon balm are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors which basically means that they reduce the activity of an enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine molecules. So, when this neurotransmitter is produced in greater amounts, gets quickly released to the synapses and breaks down at a slower rate, it can affect the cells more effectively – providing positive effects on memory and attention. But going back to stress, it is worth pointing out that nervous tension can even physically damage the nerve cells. L-theanine, Lemon balm, Brahmi and vitamin B3 (from picamilon) might counteract this effect because they stimulate neurotrophic factors that are necessary for neurogenesis – the production of new neurons. They are also crucial for the cells to create new connections which is particularly important for memory and learning abilities. Additionally, L-theanine will help to get into a proper mood. This natural compound from green tea stimulates alpha brain waves (8-13 Hz). They are typical for the mental state known as “relaxed awareness” that is great for learning. Those stress-mitigating properties will certainly reduce the negative impact of stress and help to process information more efficiently.

Improves sleep quality: Stress brings many different consequences but one of them is particularly important and dangerous – sleeping difficulties. For most people, many sleepless hours spent in bed might be another stress factor, but besides that, sleep deprivation is harmful for the body that cannot effectively recover. In these circumstances, it is crucial to improve the activity of GABA. Brahmi and vitamin B6 are able to do that by stimulating the production of this compound. Magnolia, Brahmi, inositol and vitamin B3 (obtained during picamilon breakdown) facilitate attachment of its molecules to specific receptors. Picamilon itself is an additional source of GABA. Importantly, Lemon balm reduces the breakdown of this neurotransmitter. L-theanine is also one of the factors that improve its level (even by up to 20%), however, the exact mechanism of this effect is yet to be discovered. When GABA activity is balanced, it is easier to relax and rest after a day full of challenges. In order to regain full psychological comfort we may need serotonin as well. Brahmi, vitamin B6, vitamin B3 (from picamilon), Lemon balm and Magnolia are able to influence this neurotransmitter’s activity. Additionally, it is worth pointing out that serotonin and dopamine can induce slow-wave sleep that provides the most effective recovery for the body. But sleep is also a wonderful state for the mind. Acetylcholine stimulates REM sleep phase that is related to the most intense consolidation of memories. The activity of this neurotransmitter might be improved by: Brahmi that stimulates its production and Magnolia that stimulates acetylcholine release to the synapses. In combination, Magnolia and inositol can facilitate binding of acetylcholine molecules to the receptors while the trio of Brahmi, Magnolia and Lemon balm prevents those molecules from deactivating. The balance between different aspects of neuronal activity, that can be restored with the ingredients of our formula, helps to maintain a proper sleeping pattern and duration of slow-wave sleep and REM phase. That is, of course, favorable for waking up refreshed and ready to take on new challenges.
